2010 CALL FOR PAPERS
The inaugural meeting of the Society for the Study of Muslim Ethics will be held January 7-10, 2010, at the Doubletree Hotel in San Jose, California.
We invite paper proposals dealing with any aspect of Muslim ethics. Topics may be theoretical or applied, historical or contemporary, textual or philosophical. Sessions are 90 minutes long and consist of a single presenter or panels of up to three speakers, including a discussant. The goal of SSME sessions is to maximize the opportunity for discussion.
Proposals for a single presenter should include the following:
• contact information of presenter (name, institutional affiliation, phone numbers, and e-mail address)
• tentative title
• abstract (500 word minimum, 600 maximum)
• selected bibliography
Proposals for panels should include a list of all panelists, including the convenor and discussant (if any), contact information for all panelists, and the tentative title, abstract, and selected bibliography of the papers to be presented.

The deadline for submission of proposals is October 1, 2009. Successful applicants will be notified by October 15, 2009. Working papers should be submitted for uploading to the SSME conference website by December 1, 2009.

The Society for the Study of Muslim Ethics annual conference runs concurrently with that of the Society of Jewish Ethics and the Society of Christian Ethics. Presented papers are eligible for publication in the Journal of the Society of Christian Ethics.
